My approach to therapy is integrative with an emphasis on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. With clinical training and experience with a variety of treatment approaches, I combine the best components from different therapeutic approaches to give people a thorough conceptualization of their difficulties and suggest various avenues for change. I look at the physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioural, interpersonal, social, cultural, and spiritual aspects of people's lives, in understanding their difficulties and in helping them to create a more fulfilling life.
On The Road To Change
Therapy with me is forward-looking. I believe psychotherapy should be about change, some aspect of oneself or one's life. I see people make valuable changes everyday in major ways but change will not happen on its own. It requires that we make a conscious choice to examine patterns in our lives, question old assumptions, and take action towards intentional and meaningful changes. Therapy with me is not just about understanding, it's about turning understanding into real change that lasts.
I believe that the choices we make influence our mental health and can help us to recover from emotional pain. In spite of difficult circumstances (past or present) that we may not have been able to control, what we can have control over are our thoughts, behaviours, and how we communicate with others.
Therapy with me is not just about moving away from emotional pain. It is also about moving towards emotional health and resilience by becoming aware of our strengths and using them. This can allow us to be happier and to create more fulfilling relationships.
If you would invite me to accompany you on a section of your life journey towards discovering your own personal freedom in these choices, I will support you in your own healing journey. My hope is that you will emerge from the experience of therapy feeling stronger and freer, and that you will develop joy and harmony within yourself and your relationships.
